Conflict Resolution Training - Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne & Australia Wide
Empower your employees including but not limited to managers, leaders, customer service, HR and supervisors with our Conflict Resolution training course, specifically designed for individuals who encounter challenging negotiations and emotionally volatile individuals, or require enhanced communication skills.
Unresolved conflicts in the workplace can incur various costs, including productivity loss, poor work culture, and employee dissatisfaction, among others. This course addresses these challenges head-on, empowering your team with the skills needed to handle conflicts and foster a positive work environment.
The Cost of Workplace Conflict
Workplace conflict is one of the most underestimated drains on an organisation. Research consistently shows that employees spend a significant portion of their working week dealing with conflict — time that comes directly out of productivity.
Beyond lost time, unresolved conflict contributes to increased staff turnover, absenteeism, workers compensation claims, and in serious cases, legal action under the Fair Work Act or psychosocial hazard legislation.
For Australian employers, the obligation to manage workplace conflict is not just a cultural one — it is increasingly a legal one under WHS and psychosocial hazard frameworks. Investing in conflict resolution training is one of the most cost-effective ways to address these risks before they escalate.
Who Will Benefit From Workplace Conflict Resolution Training in Australia?
Conflict or Dispute Resolution training is valuable for any team members who seek to enhance their strategies and tools for effectively managing conflicts. Especially leaders, managers, supervisors and HR. Since everyone approaches conflict differently, empowering your team with improved communication skills will yield noticeable benefits. This training will ensure that the organisational approach to conflict management is cohesive and aligned across all levels.
Conflict resolution training is ideal for staff working in hospitals, especially nurses, churches, government, hospitality, schools and education, emergency services, retail, NDIS, airlines and prisons.

Understanding Personality Styles — The DISC Model
A key component of Resolution Education’s conflict resolution training is the DISC model, a widely used behavioural framework that helps people understand their own working style and the styles of those around them. DISC identifies four primary personality profiles: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness.
In a conflict situation, understanding whether a colleague or customer tends toward a direct, results-driven style versus a more analytical or relationship-focused one can completely change how you approach a conversation.
By giving participants insight into their own DISC profile and those of their team members, this training helps build empathy, reduce friction and create more productive working relationships long after the training day is over.
Workplace Conflict and Australian Legal Obligations
Australian employers have a legal duty of care to provide a safe working environment, which extends to psychological safety under Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation. The model WHS laws, adopted across most Australian states and territories, require organisations to identify and manage psychosocial hazards — and workplace conflict is explicitly recognised as one.
Under the Fair Work Act 2009, unresolved interpersonal conflict can also give rise to bullying claims, unfair dismissal proceedings, and general protections applications.
Providing structured conflict resolution training demonstrates a proactive approach to these obligations and can serve as evidence of due diligence should a dispute escalate to a formal complaint or tribunal.
De-escalation vs Conflict Resolution Training
Conflict resolution and de-escalation are related concepts, but they refer to different processes and techniques for managing challenging situations.
Conflict resolution involves addressing the underlying issues and sources of conflict to reach a solution that all parties are satisfied with. This includes getting to know various perspectives, identifying the root cause of issues, and developing sensitivities towards other personalities and approaches in the workplace.
On the other hand, de-escalation focuses on preventing and mitigating tense, aggressive, or potentially violent situations. This involves employing specific communication and behavioural techniques to defuse emotions, reduce stress, and create a more constructive and manageable environment for all involved, whether they are staff, consumers, or bystanders.
At Resolution Education, our workplace conflict resolution training or dispute resolution training focuses on enhancing the internal relationships within an organisation, e.g. if there is a conflict between two or more staff members. Whereas our De-escalation & OVA Training focuses on reducing tension and violent behaviour directed at employees by external consumers, e.g. if a patient or customer became aggressive towards staff.
